Mahudeshwarar Temple, Kodumudi, Erode
This Temple is located in Kodumudi & it is 40 kms from Erode and 105 kms from Coimbatore. The special feature of this town is the temple of Lord Siva Called Muchukundeswarar; Lord Vishnu called as Veera Narayan Perumal and Brahma as Trinity, installed in the same temple complex. It is one of the important temples of the District. 10 day Chithirai Utsavam [April-May] and Panguni Uthiram [Mar–Apr] are the most important festivals of the temple. This is the 264th Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 6th Shiva Sthalam in Kongu Naadu. Moovar has sung hymns in praise of Lord Shiva of this Temple. 




Kodumudi Mahudeswarar, Veera Narayana Perumal and brama deva Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and lord brama respectively. Various festivals are celebrated in the temples beginning with the Tamil New Year. During these ten days of ceremony, the festive deities Siva and Vishnu will be taken out on different types of Vahanas for darsan. Mahasivarathri is a grand saivaite festival. The 18th day of Tamil month "Aadi", the deities will be taken to the river bank, bathed and are decorated with sandalwood powder. The Moola Nakshathra day of Tamil Month "Aavani" is celebrated as Pittu Thiruvizha and the Rohini Nakshathra day of the same month is the birthday of Lord Krishna.
Annabishekam (abishekam with cooked rice) is performed to the deities on the Aswini nakshathra of "Aipasi" month and the six day Sasti festival is celebrated culminating with the marriage ceremony of Lord Muruga with Deivanai. The Krithika Nakshathra day of "Karthigai" is celebrated as "Karthikai Deepam" (day of light). The last Monday of this month is the day for the "108 Sankabishekam" (conches filled with Kaviri water). The Thiruvathirai Nakshatra day of "Margazhi" is the day for Lord Nataraja. A procession for the festive deities is taken out for the public dharshan. The "Ekadhasi" is the day of entering in the gateway to reach "Vaikuntham". Pushpa Nakshathra of "Thai" month is the day of "Theerthavizha".




History
This temple is a Mummoorthi Temple and so containing the deities of Brahma, Magudeshwarar, Veeranarayanapperumaal.
The Goddess part is Soundhraambigai. Lord Brahma of this temple has no goddess part. The name of Mahavishnu in this temple is Veeranarayanapperumaal with the Goddess part called various names as Thirumangai Nachiyar and Mahalakshmi. Lord Magudeshwarar of destructive duty, Veeranarayanapperumaal of Protective duty and Brahma of creative duty are the trinity of Hindu spirituality system.








This sthalam is fullfilled with Mummoorthy and Theertham named as Bharadhwaja Theertham, Brahma Theertham, Deva Theertham and Kavery Theertham.Lord Magudeshwarar is called in various names as Paandi Kodumudi Nathar, Malaikozhundheesar ,Magudalingar,kodumudeshwarar ect. Sacred Tree of this temple is Vanni Tree (The tree is a 3000 year old living tree and its leaf are using in kavadi theertham).

Chithirai
Chithirai Festival begins with Flag Hoist and Car riding on the day of Hastha Nakshthra and ends in the day of Chithra Nakshathra with Holy bothing in the river at morning and dehoisting the flag the evening. During this Ten days of ceremony the Uthsavamoorthis (festive deities - Siva, Vishnu) will be taken out on different types of Vahanas for dharsan.
Aadi
The 18th day of Aadi Tamil Month is the day for Holy both in river Kaviri. During this function the Uthsavamoorthi will be taken to the river bank and there will be a function called "Deepam" conducted by Thirukovil, at 6.00 P.M. The Last Friday of the Aadi Month is the day of making Decorations to all deities with sandal powder.

The Moola Nakshathra day of Aavani Tamil Month s a day of Siva, Peruman who blesses the living being at the river bank is called Pittu Thiruvizha. Rohini Nakshathra day of Aavani Month is the birthday of Lord Krishna and so called as "Krishna Jayanthi". This festival is conducted for two days with the procession of Lord Krishna Festive deity.
Aipasi
Aswini Nakshathra of Aipasi Tamil Month is the day of Annabishekam (Abishekam with cooked rice) to Lord Magudeshwara and Sasti Festival of six days duration which ends with the Soora Samhara. The Seventh day function is the Marriage Ceremony of Lord Muruga with Valli, Devasena.

Krithika Nakshathra day of Karthigai Tamil Month is the day of "Karthikai Deepam" (Day of light). The last Monday of this month is the day for the "108 Sankabishekam" (conches filled with Kaviri water).
Markazhi
Thiruvathirai Nakshatra day of Margazhi Tamil Month is the day for Lord Nataraja, Nataraja abishekam is a process of specialized pooja for the dancing Sivaperuman. Procession, Festive deities will be taken out for the public dharshan. The "Ekadhasi" is the day of entering in the Gateway to reach "Vaikuntham" (Heaven of Mahavshnu). This function is followed by the procession of "Uthsavamoorthis".

From various parts of Tamilnadu buses are available and the main and nearest Bus stand is Karur which is 28km and other city is Erode which is 37km, so reaching temple never a big task at any time.
