Thindal Murugan Temple
Thindal Malai Murugan Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Murugan, located
on Thindal malai hillock near Erode. The primary deity is Sri Velayuthaswamy.
The temple houses a golden
chariot Temple Car, which runs around the temple on the hillock. It is about 7 km
from Central Bus stand at Swastik Circle, 8 km from Erode Junction. The
Temple is well connected to by local buses running in-between Central Bus Terminus and Perundurai. The area
of thindalmalai is 2.43.5 hectare.and height is 60 meter
Thindal is
located in erode to Perundurai road. It is an 8 kms from erode. People strongly
believe that there is abundance of prosperity in Erode, because Lord Thindal
Muruga is facing towards Erode. The another name for lord Thindal is Thindal
malai Murugan, Velayuthaswamy, Kulanthai Velayuthaswamy, Kumara Velayuthaswamy
,etc..,
Some other
names of Thindal are Thindalpalayam, Thindalmangalam, Thindalpudur, Thindal
malai Thindalgiri, Melaithindal, keelaithindal.
These names
are in Ilakkiyam, kalvettu, seppedu. Varalaatru Avanam. Thindu is meaning of
baruman. Barumanana malai is called as Thindal malai.
Thirisadi Archanai"
is the famous Pooja conducted in Tuesday of every week. This Pooja is mainly
for Marriage, child birth, job disturbance, etc… Thirisadi Pooja timing -
10.30A.m, 12.30P.m, 5.30P.m, 7.30P.m…….. Archanai fees Rs.50.00 per person.

Entrance
The
beautiful temple entrance is located beginning on the national highway. The art
of Vinayagar, Subramanyar, Valli Theyvanai, Mayilvakanam, Sivan, Parvathi,
Saraswathi, Laxmi is decorated in beautiful arch.
Arasamarathu vinayagar
The first
temple in the temple complex is Arasamarathu Vinayagar. It was constructed 40
years ago. The holy Tree in this temple is arasamaram. This Vinayagar was
surrounded by Nagar Statues.
Siththi vinayagar
The next
temple is siththi vinayagar. Here also two nagar statues are located. Velayuthaswamy
statue is located in Munmandapam. The lengthy steps starts from here onwards.
Idumban shrine
Next few
steps from Munmandapam Idumban temple is located. The another name of Idumban
is Idumbakkumaran, Idunbasan.
Maga Ganapathi
Maga
Ganapathi is the first shrine in thindalmalai. It is called Thala Vinayagar.
Velayuthaswamy shrine
Uchava Moorthikal
The
beautiful art of uchava moorty statue is located here. The lines of uchava
moorthikal are Vinayagar, Velayuthaswamy, Subramaniyar, Valli Deivanai
Thannasi cave
Thannasi
cave is located northwest side from the Velayuthaswamy temple. In the day of
karthigai deepam the first pooja is conducted in thannasi Nagar statues are
also located in thannasi cave. Theertha sunai is located northeast side from
the thindalmalai.
Festivals
Every year,
many minor festivals and few major festivals are conducted at Thindal. Kandha
Shasti, Thirukkarthigai, Thai Poosam and Panguni Uthiram are the major
festivals, which are attended by pilgrims from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and other
states. This attendance of devotees indicates the National integration of the
country.
