The Pallava kings erected this Temple at Koovathur. The lord is looking towards east. As is the custom in Siva temple, the Goddess Sri Sivagamasundari is facing the south. The long corridors adorn the temple.

The sculptures in this temple are astonishing in beauty and realism. The temple roof has a unique sculpture of Ashtadhik Balagars. One Time Pooja is conducted in this Temple.
