Mundaka Kanni Amman Temple is a Hindu Temple located at Mylapore in Chennai City in Tamilnadu. It is dedicated to Mariamman and used to be famous for animal sacrifices. The temple is one of the most famous shrines dedicated to Mariamman. The Temple is believed to be about 1300 years old. The original name was Mandhakini Amman which has been tamilised to Mundaka Kanni Amman. Mundaka Kanni Amman Temple is situated towards the north side of Mylapore Kapaleeshwarar Temple and near to Madhava Perumal Temple. 




Though the temple is small, the miracles of the Amman are countless. In the month of Aadi, the temple is busy throughout that month, as people, from far and near come to worship the Amman and to perform special prayers rituals to her. This is the holy place where Vayilar, one of the Nayanmar and Peyalvar, one of the Aalvaars were born. The Temple is Administrated by Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of Tamil Nadu.
