Kalamega Perumal Temple, Thirumohoor – Literary Mention

Kalamega Perumal Temple, Thirumohoor – Literary Mention
The temple is glorified in the verses of Nalayira Divya Prabhandham by Tirumangai Azhwar (1 Paasuram) and Nammazhwar (1 Paasuram). The temple is classified as a Divya Desam, one of the 108 Vishnu temples that are mentioned in the book. Manavala Mamunigal, Kalamegha Pulavar, Thiruninravur Tirumalai and Pillai Perumal Iyengar have composed verses on the deity. Out of the eighteen Puranas, Brahmanda Purana and Matsya Purana make specific mention about Thirumohur.
Nammazhwar in his Mangalasasanam Hymn says, If we seek asylum in him, he will be our protector, Devas will be good to us, if and when we reach him to escape the threats of the demons, He would appear before us, so let’s ever chant the name of Lord of Thirumogur.
Nammazhvar Praise:
Nammazhvar praises the Lord saying all the difficulties will go away if one just goes around Kalamegha Perumal once.
“Matru Ilam Aran Vaan Perum Pazh Thani Muthalaasutrum
