Kottai Hidayathul Islam Safia Jamath is a renowned Muslim place of worship at Kottaimedu. It is located just a kilometer away from Coimbatore railway junction between the Town Hall and Ukkadam. 
This is the first and the biggest mosque to be built in Coimbatore during the reign of Tipu Sultan in the 17th century, who is also considered to have offered prayers at the Kottai mosque.
Islamic pilgrims from the entire country visit this mosque.
Apart from the intricate architecture and its obvious service as a prayer hall, the mosque is famous for imparting education.
It also works as an information centre and dispute settlement agency. An Arabic College is a part of this mosque and functions efficiently maintaining good standards.
Though it is a religious place, it is open to everyone. Tourists and students can visit the place to learn more about religion as well as history. 
Kottai mosque can be easily accessed from any part of Coimbatore, as it is situated right in the middle of the city. 
Marudamalai Temple, Dhyanalinga Temple, Eachanari Vinayagar Temple, Patteeswarar temple, Parambikkulam, Aazhiyaar Dam, Kovai Kuttralam and Black Thunder Theme Park are some other attractions situated in the vicinity.
