Annamalaiyar Temple – Fourth Prakaram – Brahma Theertham

Annamalaiyar Temple – Fourth Prakaram – Brahma Theertham
This tank is located at the south-east of the fourth prakaram. It is adjacent to the Kala Bhairavar Shrine. The tank is square and on the northern side there is a flight of steps leading down to the Teertham. At the beginning of the steps there is a four pillared mandapam called the Theerthavari Mandapam. During solar and lunar eclipse Theerthavari takes places here.

During the holy dip the utsavamurtis are placed in this mandapa for darshan. This tank was dug by king Venudaiyan, the son of the glorious Kadava King Kopperunjingan in 1230 A.D. The tank was primarily called Perumal Theertham. On the banks of the pool there is a flower garden.
