Gnanaparameswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Thiru Naalur Mayanam near Thirucherai in Kumbakonam Taluk in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Gnana Parameswarar / Palasavananathar / Mayanathu Parama Siva Swamy / Mayanathu Moolathanathu Peruman and Mother is called as Gnanambigai / Periyanayaki / Brihannayagi. This place is also called as Thirumeignanam.
The Temple is considered as one of the shrines of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams (Shiva Sthalams) glorified in the early medieval Thevaram poems by Tamil Saivite Nayanar Thirugnana Sambandar. This Temple is considered as the 213th Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 96th Sthalam on the south side of river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu. Naalur Village also houses another Shiva Temple called Palasavaneswarar Temple, a Devara Vaippu Sthalam and Maada Kovil.

History
This Temple is believed to be built in brick during early Chola period and was converted into a granite edifice by Aditya Chola. There are about 23 inscriptions in this temple belonged to various Chola Kings starting from Aditya Chola I. This place was called as Chaturvedi Mangalam, Thirumayanam and Thirumeignanam in ancient times. This temple is under the administrative control of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of Government of Tamil Nadu (HR&CE).
