Sivayoginathar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Thiruvisainallur Village near Kumbakonam Town in Thiruvidaimarudur Taluk in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Sivayoginathar / Yoganandheeswarar / Vilvaranyeswarar / Puraathaneswarar and Mother is called as Soundara Nayagi / Santha Nayagi. This Temple is considered as Guru and Rishaba Parihara Sthalam.





The Temple is considered as one of the shrines of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams - Shiva Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Thevaram Hymns by Tamil Saivite Nayanar Tirugnanasambandar. This Temple is considered as 97th Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 43rd Shiva Sthalam on the northern bank of the river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu (Vadakarai). This temple is under the administration of Thanjavur Palace Devasthanam.

Temple Opening Time

The Temple remains open from 6.00 am to 12.30 pm and from 3.00 pm to 8.30 pm

Festivals

Vinayakar Chaturthi (Aug-Sep), Navaratri (Sep-Oct), Skanda Shashti (Oct–Nov), Aippasi Annabishekam (Oct–Nov), Thiru Karthikai (Nov-Dec), Karthigai Somavaram (Mondays) (Nov-Dec), Makara Sankranti (Jan-Feb) and Shivrathri (Feb-Mar) are the festivals celebrated here. Monthly Pradoshams are observed regularly. It is believed that Lord Suryan (Sun) worships Lord Shiva of this temple by directing his rays on the lingam every year for three days (on 1st, 2nd and 3rd) in the Tamil month of Chithirai (Apr-May). It is significant here. On the last day of the Aipasi month, the Pancha Moorthis goes on procession – Theerthavari at Kaveri. Arudhra Darshan on the Maha Shivarathri Day is celebrated with much fanfare.

The Temple is located at about 4 Kms from Thirubuvanam, 4 Kms from Veppathur, 6 Kms from Thirunageswaram Railway Station, 6 Kms from Thiruvidaimaruthur, 9 Kms from Kumbakonam, 9 Kms from Kumbakonam Railway Station, 9 Kms from Kumbakonam Bus Stand, 12 Kms from Darasuram, 47 Kms from Thanjavur and 101 Kms from Trichy Airport. Thiruvisainallur is situated on the way to Suriyanar Koil in the Veppathur route. Mini Buses are available from Kumbakonam Bus Stand to Veppathur,  get down at  School Bus Stop to reach this Temple. The Temple is about 1 Km from School Bus Stop.
