Sugreevar Theertham, Rameswaram

Sugreevar Theertham, Rameswaram
Sugreevar Temple or Theertham is located on the way to the Gandhamadana Parvatam. This temple is situated close to the Doordarshan Kendra in the town. Sugreevar was the king of the monkey kingdom of Kishkintha who was helped by Lord Ram to regain his empire from his bother Vali who had wrongly abducted it from Sugreevar.

In return, Sugreevar deployed his entire monkey force to assist Lord Ram in the battle against the demon king Ravana in order to rescue Devi Sita from his clutches. This sacred tourist attraction can be reached by taxi or auto rickshaw.

There is also a famous lotus pond on the way to Ramar Paadham, near this temple. This pond is known as Sita Kund as it was dedicated to Sita, wife of Lord Rama.
