Lakshmi Narayana Perumal Temple, Kunnathur, Tirupur

Lakshmi Narayana Perumal Temple, Kunnathur, Tirupur
Kunnathur is home to a historic Lakshmi Narayanan Temple built by Cheras during the 12th century. This temple is located just opposite to Sri Kundrapureeswarar Shiva Temple on the straight line facing east.

There is no Thayar Sannadhi, since Sri Lakshmi is sitting on the left Lap of Sri Narayana perumal. The temple has lot of Epigraphs which proves that the temple was constructed during 12th century.

This is the place were "Vandikkal Charithram" has been staged for the first time in 19th century, by Sri Subbaraya Iyer. It is a small but very old temple, with lot of inscriptions and sculptures of old times. The presiding deity is Sri Lakshmi Narayana Perumal, which is almost 6 feet of height.

Perumal is having goddess Lakshmi sitting over his lap. The idol looks majestic and marvellous. The temple has been renovated recently. There is no change in the old base structure.

Here also there is a Vilakku thoon or Garuda thoon in front of the temple. Kunnathur is on the state high way between Gobichettipalayam to Thiruppur and Erode, Perundurai to Coimbatore.
