Manappad Beach is the most famous amongst the surfers of India. Its coastline is formed by several layers of lava accumulated over hundreds of years, providing it the unique and best wave formation required for surfing. Manappad Beach in Manappad is located at 8°22'18.9"N 78°03'51.2"E or 8.371919, 78.064229.








Manappad is a coast fishing village along the shores of Bay of Bengal. This village is bordered on the South East by wide sandy beaches which are frequented by tourist from the surrounding areas. The landmarks near the Manappad beach are St. Xavier’s Church, Holy Cross Church and Manappad Light House.









Manappad lies along the State Highway (SH 49), popularly known as the East Coast Road (ECR) in Tamilnadu. It is situated about 58 kilometers from Tuticorin, also known as Thoothukudi. There are direct flights from Chennai to Tuticorin, twice in a day. There are trains departing and arriving from Chennai and Bangalore to the Tuticorin Railway Station; one of the oldest railway stations in the country.
