Our Lady
of Lourdes Church is the most prominent Catholic Church in Kayathar. This
church is located about a kilometer to the north of Kayathar Bus stand. St. Lourdhu
Matha Church. It is one of the very ancient churches for the Roman Catholic
Christians in Tamilnadu.
History
Our Lady
of Lourdes Church is more than 200 years old though the original structure of
the present church building was built in 1858. This church used to function at
different venues before it had been constructed here. From then it has been
growing slowly and steadily and presently over 2000 people attend prayers here
on Sundays. This church was renovated recently in 1991, 2005 and 2013.
