Pearl Beach, Thoothukudi
The
Pearl Beach which is also known as Pearl City Beach had earlier been called as
Police Beach. It was called as Police Beach in remembrance of the efforts put
by policemen in creating the beach.
The
beach was closed for a short while so that several enhancements could be made
in the beach premises and an event to reopen the beach was conducted on April
of 2013.
The
beach presently boasts of a cafeteria, organized parking lots, beach volleyball
courts, a long walking track, granite benches along the beach and play area for
children. A proposal to build a swimming pool in the beach is being evaluated.
