Panchalinga
waterfalls located at a distance of 3 km from Thirumoorthy Temple and 20 kms
from Udumalaipettai. It is cool place and well known for meditation,
waterfalls, temple and dam. It is situated on the highway from the pilgrim
centre Palani to Coimbatore. The Thirumoorthy temple or the Sri
Amanalingeswarar temple is at the foot of the hill adjacent to Thirumoorthy
dam.
The falls with a perennial flow is a famous picnic spot here. One can also
enjoy a nice trekking experience of nearly 2 kms on the way to waterfalls. The
place surrounded by Thirumoorthy hills offers a cool atmosphere and provides
backdrop for many Indian films.
One has
to climb around 2 kms to reach the Panjalinga Falls, but it’s worth the climb
as the water there is fabulous, but only during the winter and rainy months the
falls will be in full force. Little above the water falls you can find open
temple. Originally there are five lingas (Panja Lingas). Due to heavy water
rain, some of the statues were missed.
During the festival time, pilgrimage
from nearby areas will come to this place. There after bring “Panjalinga water”
for their prayer rituals. Water falls from a height of about 5 meters before it
mingles with the catchment area in the Thirumoorthy Dam.
Thirumoorthy
hill is the major cinema shooting spot in the Coimbatore District where most of
the Malayalam and Tamil Movies are taken here due to
the pleasant climate and the elegant view of the nature. There is also a
swimming pool and a well laid out garden and boating facilities in the dam. Thirumoorthy
fall is an exotic location which is characterized by route that is surrounded
by paddy field, coconut groves and sunflower gardens. Read on to know more

Thirumoorthy
falls also has a temple named after it which is located at the foot
Thirumoorthy hills. The temple is also in close proximity of Thirumoorthy dam.
The water flows by the side of Sri Amanalingeswarar Temple where the presiding
deity is called Amanalingeswarar.
This waterfall is very popular among tourists
and can be accessed via the Thirumoorthy Temple road. The nearest bus stop is
the Thirumoorthy Water Fall. Thirumoorthy Falls at Udumalaipettai is located at
10°27'22.4"N 77°09'41.2"E or 10.456229, 77.161450. Ideal time to
visit this waterfall would be anytime between months November and June.
Connectivity
It is
situated 50 Kms from Pollachi and 23 kms from Udumalpet on the highway from
Palani to Coimbatore. Bus facilities are conveniently available from Udumalpet
and Dharapuram via Dhali. Nearest Railway Station is located at Udumalpet
and Nearest Airport is located at Coimbatore.
