Neelakandeswarar Temple, Iluppaipattu, Mayiladuthurai

Neelakandeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Iluppaipattu Village near Manalmedu in Mayiladuthurai Taluk in Mayiladuthurai District in Tamil Nadu. There are five Shivalingas in the temple worshipped by the five Pandava brothers, Dharma, Bheema, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva namely Neelakandeswarar, Magadeeswarar, Padikarai Nathar, Parameswarar and Muktheeswarar. Though all the five lingams in this temple are considered to be the presiding deities, Neelakandeswarar with his consort Amudhakara Valli and Padikarai Nathar with his consort Mangalanayagi are given prominence.

This Temple is considered as one of the shrines of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Thevaram hymns by Tamil Saivite Nayanar Sundarar. This Temple is considered as 84th Devara Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 30th sthalam on the north side of river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu. Lord Murugan of this temple had been praised by Saint Arunagirinathar in his revered Thirupugazh hymns. This temple is situated on the southern banks of the river Manniyaru, also known as Subramanya river.
