Abathsahayar Temple (Aanandeeswarar Temple), Thenneri, Kanchipuram
Abathsahayar Temple (Aanandeeswarar Temple) is dedicated to Hindu God Shiva located at Thenneri Village in Kanchipuram District of Tamilnadu. There are three temples in this village, two Siva Temples and one Perumal temple. The Siva temples are maintained by Archaeological Survey of India. Thenneri is about 8 Kms from Walajabad of Kanchipuram District.

This temple is a Siva temple and Ambal is called Sri Anandavalli, unusually holding `pasam` in both hands. There are lots of inscriptions found on the walls. According to inscriptions this temple was built in the year 1090 A.D. by Kulothunga Chola I. When one king was in crisis, he was rescued by the Lord Eswara. Hence the deity got the name of Abathsahayar.
Once in a Karnataka village called Elavetti everyday people are dying without any reason. At one stage half of the village population disappeared. Someone guided the villagers to go to this temple for the remedy. They came here and worshiped the Lord with Vibhuthi Abhishekam and taken back the Vibhuthi and sprayed it throughout the village. After this the misery came to an end.
One unusual `Pirathanai` is being conducted here, that is `vadai malai` as being done to Hanumar. The temple has the `goshta murthis` with Vinayakar and Murugan. Thala Virutcham is `Vilvam`, Temple tank is situated nearby. Daily one time puja is performed.
