Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple, Pazhaya Seevaram, Kanchipuram

Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple, Pazhaya Seevaram, Kanchipuram
Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple is dedicated to Hindu God Vishnu located at Pazhaiya Seevaram village in Kanchipuram District of Tamilnadu. The Temple is located on top of Padmagiri hillock in Pazhaiya Seevaram village. This kshetram is also called with name as "Sathya Varadha Kshetram". The nondescript village Pazhaiya Seevaram, aka. 'Sripuram' is also located on the northern bank of the holy river Palar and the Thiru Mukkoodal Sri Appan Venkatesa Perumal temple on the southern bank. The village is surrounded by lush green paddy fields, swaying coconut palm, huts and tiled houses and the winding streets.

There is 'Sudharsana Hill,' another hillock found opposite to Padmagiri. Pazhaiya Seevaram village is also marked by the confluence of three rivers - Palar (Ksheera Nadhi), Seyyaru or Cheyyar (Bahu Nadhi) and Vegavathi (Saraswathi). The three rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati unite together at the holy shrine Triveni Sangamam or Prayag, in Uttar Pradesh state, India. However the river Saraswati's presence is not visible to our eyes and hence marked as 'Antharvahini' meaning flowing below the earth. At the confluence point,  known as Thirumukkudal (aka. Dakshina Prayag), one can physically witness the confluence of three rivers with the naked eye. Therefore Thirumukkudal is much holier than Triveni Sangamam or Prayag. Two times pujas are being conducted in this Temple.

Interestingly, this temple has been managed by a private Guajarati trust (at least for the last 300 years) and has been maintained very well. The Temple is located on the  Kanchipuram - Chengalpattu State Highway SH58 and it is about 16 km from Chengalpattu and about 20 km from Kanchipuram. In reality the temple is located on the midway to the hillock i.e, about 100 steps to be climbed up to reach the temple. Kanchi Varadar makes his annual 20km trip to this temple on the day after Pongal.
