Gnananda Giri's Peedam, Thennangur, Thiruvannamalai

Gnananda Giri's Peedam, Thennangur, Thiruvannamalai
Gnananda Giri's Peedam is a Hindu Madam or Hindu Mutt located at Thennangur Village in Thiruvannamalai District in Tamilnadu. It lies at the backside of the Pandurangan Temple and in the middle of the Mutt there is a Thulasi Maadam. It is called as Thulasi Brindavanam. When Haridas Giri Swamigal was on his way to Badrinath, he attained Jala Samadhi in the river Alaganaada (near Rudraprayag). Thulasi Brindavanam was built in his memory and the sanctum sanctorum of Gnanananda Swamigal lies opposite to Thulasi Brindavanam. Their Swarna Padukas are kept in the Mutt for daily pooja.

Inside the mattam, there is a shrine for Maha Shodasi, who is the presiding deity of Jyothir Mutt like Sri Kamakshi for Kanchi Mutt and Sri Sharadha Devi for Sringeri Mutt. Sri Chakra and Maha Meru, manifestations of Sakthi, are taken for upasana of Ambika all along and for the first time, a rupa or form is manifested of Devi viz Maha Shodasi with all its Anga, Prtyanga Devathas such as Ganapathy, Murugan, Rudra, Varahi, Vaishnavi etc. so that devotees of all faith can have their wishes fulfilled through different arjitha Sevas like Homam, Archana etc.
