Kaleeswarar Temple, Villianallur, Mayiladuthurai
Kaleeswarar Temple is dedicated to Hindu God Shiva located at Villianallur Village near Mayiladuthurai in Nagapattinam District of Tamilnadu. Presiding Deity is called as Kaleeswarar and Mother is called as Sivakamasundari. Holy Tree is Vilwa Tree and Theertham is Homa Kulam.

Legends
Twin Vinayaga:
According to this rule, Lord Vinayaka was already in existence even before the wedding of Mother Parvathi with Lord Shiva in one Yuga. It is also said that Lord Vinayaka was the purohit conducting the Shiva Parvathi wedding in the holy soil of Tirumanjeri.  Indeed, Vinayaka stayed in this place, performed pujas as per Agama rules to Lord Shiva of this place - Villianallur only. He took two forms, one as a purohit to conduct the divine wedding in Tirumanjeri and one for stay in this place, thus, in his two forms; He is a twin Vinayaka in this place. As desired by Mother Parvathi, He became the eldest offspring of the divine couple.
Sivakama Sundari:
During the preparations for the Wedding of Lord and Mother, Shiva-Parvathi, evil powers tried to stop the event.  Mother took the form of Vishwarupa Kali and destroyed these malefic spirits.  Yet, she was still furious.  Lord looked at her with all love. Ambica felt shy and turned back to her original charming form. As Ambica belongs to the love of Lord, She is worshipped as Sivakama Sundari.
Kaleeswarar:
As Lord calmed down the fury of Kali, he is praised as Kaleeswarar.  
Homa Kulam:
Lord Vinayaka has his own temple near the Kaleeswarar temple on the way. The Kula – tank was created Lord Ganapathi for water needs to conduct Homas, hence called Homa Kulam.  
Chandikeswara:
Lord Chandikeswara in the Komukham of Mother Ambica in this temple is believed to belong to Krutha Yuga when he had faces. He had three in Thretha Yuga, two in Dwapara Yuga and one in the present Kali Yuga. This very fact is evidence to the antiquity of the temple.  Worshipping this Krutha Yuga Chandikeswara relieves the devotees of their sins of generations of the past.

The Kula – tank was created Lord Ganapathi for water needs to conduct Homas, hence called Homa Kulam.  Lord Chandikeswara generally seen in the Komukham of Lord’s shrine traditionally in other Shiva temples is in the Brahmmastham in Mother’s shrine here. The temple has shrines for Lords Vinayaka, Dakshinamurthi, Mahavishnu, Brahmma and Mother Durga in the prakara.
Temple Opening Time
The temple is open from 7.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and from 5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.
Festivals
Besides monthly Pradoshams, the temple celebrates Maha Shivrathri devotionally in February-March.
Prayers
People believe that worshipping the Twin Vinayaka(s) in the temple would remove obstacles in marriage conclusions.  Devotees also pray here for relief from the anger of departed ancestors, for wedding and child boons and for a life free of diseases. Devotees perform abishek and Archanas to Lord and Mother and offer vastras.

Villianallur is about 2 km far from Kuttalam on the Thirumananjeri road in the Mayiladuthurai Taluk in Nagapattinam district. Nearest Railway Station is located at Mayiladuthurai and Nearest Airport is located at Trichy.
