Vanamutti
Perumal Temple is dedicated to Hindu God Vishnu located at Kozhikuthi Village
near Mayiladuthurai town in Nagapattinam District of Tamilnadu. Vanamutti
Perumal is also known as Sri Srinivasa Perumal, Kozhikuthi bestows Peace,
prosperity, happiness and wealth. The temple is more than 1400 years old.
The presiding deity, Vanamutti Perumal is more than 18 feet tall and carved out
of a single Athi (Fig) tree.
According
to legend, Vanamutti Perumal gave Viswaroopa Dharshan to Pippalar Maharishi. Srinivasa
Perumal temple in Vanamutti (now Kozhi Kuthi) on the Northern Banks of the
Cauvery was built during the rule of Kulothunga Chozha III. This is a temple
for liberation from Sani Graha Dosham and all kinds of Skin Diseases. It is
located at about 6 kms North West of the Mayiladuthurai Railway Station.

This
temple is a Parikara Sthalam for liberation from Skin Diseases. Belief is that
if one visits the temple, has bath at the Vishwa Pushkarani and offers his
sincere prayers to Vanamutti perumal, he will be relieved from any kind of skin
disease. Worshipping Kozhikuthi Vanamutti perumal, the devotee is blessed with
the triple benefits of the darshan of Lord Srinivas in Tirupati, Lord Athi
Varadaraja in Kancheepuram and Lord Yoga Narasimha in Sholingur. Those
affected by adverse aspects of Sani Bhagwan pray in the temple. Devotees
perform Thirumanjanam to Perumal offering Vastras.

is 3 km from Mayiladuthurai on the Kumbakonam road. Kozhikuthi is 3 km from
Moovalur. Mini buses bound to Vaanathi Rajapuram from Mayiladuthurai pass
through Kozhikuthi. From Mayavaram Bus Stand, drive on the Kumbakonam Highway.
Take a right at Moovalur (3 kms from Railway station) and drive North 3 kms to
reach Vanamutti. Alternately, from Mayavaram take the Poompuhar- Kallanai road
(North of Railway station) to take a right at Chozhapettai to reach Vanamutti. The
Temple is located at about 6 kms North West of the Mayiladuthurai Railway
Station. Nearest Airport is located at Trichy.
