Kumbhavurutty Waterfalls is a beautiful natural falls situated 7 Kms away from the Achankoil & located very near to famous Courtrallam Falls It is located on the Achankoil - Shencottah Road of Kollam district, Kerala. This 25 m high fall nestles in charming surroundings enveloped by luxuriant foliage. The Kerala Forest Department has started an Eco-Contact Centre here.





Kumbhavurutty falls is one among the few crowd pulling waterfalls in Kerala. During peak times, the daily collection of this tourism spot will cross Rs. 1, 50,000. This waterfall is a part of river Achankovil. The travelers can see wild animals also if lucky because the waterfall is very close to the thick Konni Forest area. Palaruvi Falls and Manalar Falls are another nearby attraction of this falls.





This natural waterfall gives a breathtaking atmosphere with sounds of the rushing waters and the beauty of the nature. The waters of the Kumbhavurutty cascading down the hills at once attract your attention. Both sides of the narrow, hill road are dotted with thatched sit-outs. We can see a few beautiful treetop houses too. Kumbhavurutty Waterfalls offers breathtaking sight. From the top, the water finds its way through big and small rocks to become a bubbling stream. We can see steps, cut into the rock, and lead visitors to the top of the waterfalls.




Kumbhavurutty Waterfalls is managed by Manalar – Kumbhavurutty Vana Samrakshana Samithy and, is close to the Kerala -Tamil Nadu border. Kerala Forest Department has started an “Eco-Contact Centre” at this place. Apart from waterfalls, Trekking is an important attraction here. Visitors can go trekking to the sprawling grasslands at high elevation, for a unique experience through evergreen thickets, abundant in wild flora and fauna.




There is a Nature Interaction Center here. Kids will love this place because there are tree houses here for them to play in. Manalar is another natural falls, which is 2 Kms away from Kumbhavurutty waterfalls. Achankoil is a main Hindu pilgrim center in Kerala. Achankoil Sastha temple is one of the five Sastha temples in Kerala. Achankoil is also Eco-Tourist place. The place is near from NH 208. Entry is allowed from 10 a.m.
