Nathikarai Maha Ganapathi Temple, Karisulndamangalam,
Thirunelveli
Nathikarai
Maha Ganapathi Temple is dedicated to Hindu God Ganesha located at Karisulndamangalam
Village near Cheranmahadevi in Thirunelveli District of Tamilnadu. This temple
is located just west of Sri Venkatachalapathy temple on the southern banks of
the Thamirabarani River. The idol here is a damaged one. When “Ashta Bandana
Maha Kumbabishekam’” of this temple was performed in 1932, the committee of
that period wished to consecrate a new idol.
The
presiding deity is said to have appeared in the dreams of the committee
members; spoken and instructed that a new idol should not be installed. So by
the will of God, the same idol was installed without replacement. When
Kumbabishekam was performed on 17.04.2000 praharams and a new gopuram were
erected, with help from Shri N.Sundaram Iyer and family. It is the strong
belief of the people that the wishes and prayers of devotees are fulfilled by
the grace of the omniscient and omnipotent lord Vinayagar.
