Sadhu Krishnaveni Amma Mutt, Agasthiyar Falls, Papanasam, Thirunelveli

Sadhu Krishnaveni Amma Mutt, Agasthiyar Falls, Papanasam, Thirunelveli
Sadhu Krishnaveni Amma Mutt is located very close to Agasthiyar Falls in Papanasam in Thirunelveli District of Tamilnadu. Krishnaveni Amma was a lady who spent most of her time in this hillock. She is considered as a Siddha by devotees. Her ashram is also found in this region. She is popularly known as “Vana Devathai”.

It is said that she had been staying in solitude since coming up to this spot following a Siddhar when she was barely 13 years of age and never went back. She lived here for more than 60 years in solitude in a cave of a Tiger Sanctuary. She would say that she is the daughter of Siddhars and so was protected by Siddhars. Incidentally she passed away recently on an auspicious Chithra Pournami day on 17th April 2011.

Even during the heavy floods of 1980s when the water was flowing at more than 20 feet above her cave she was going up and up only and refused to leave the place. It is a place where Siddhars are believed to come at any time and it is believed that when the Siddhars arrive, a rain of sandal drops fall. Marks of sandal rain on the rocks can be seen.
