Panchanadeeswarar
Temple is dedicated to Hindu God Shiva located at Kurumbalur Village in
Perambalur District of Tamilnadu. Presiding Deity is called as
Panchanadeeswarar and Mother is called as Dharmasamvardhini.
Legends
King
Veeratarajan who ruled here was a frequent visitor to the Tiruvaiyaru temple.
When floods prevented him from going there Vyagiryadhar, a Siddhar, who is said
to have lived as a leopard (Kurumpuli) here is said to have instructed King
Veeratarajan to build this temple. Hence the name of the place is also
Kurumpuliyur, later corrupted to Kurumbalur. Arjuna is believed to have
performed pooja here.
History
The
Temple was built in 10th century AD by Veeratarajan as per stone inscriptions
found here.

Temple
This is
a large temple with a 5 tier Rajagopuram at the east. A large temple tank is
seen a little distance to the east. Presiding Deity is called as
Panchanadeeswarar and is facing east. Mother is called as Dharmasamvardhini and
is facing south. Nrityaganapati, Dakshinamurthy, Lingodhbava, Brahma, Durga,
Chandikeswara, Siddhi Vinayakar, Kasi Viswanathar, Visalakshi, Shanmuga
Subramanian, Navagraha and 63 Nayanmars are the other deities can be seen in
this Temple.
Connectivity
Kurumbalur
is located at about 10 Kms west of Perambalur on the Thuraiyur road, 45 Kms
from Ariyalur and 70 Kms from Trichy. Nearest Railway Station is located at
Ariyalur and Nearest Airport is located at Trichy.
