Kasi Viswanathar Temple, Mannargudi, Thiruvarur
Kasi Viswanathar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to
Lord Shiva located at Mannargudi Town in Thiruvarur District of Tamilnadu. The
Temple is located on the banks of river Pamani. The Temple is located near
Pamani River Bridge and located on the banks of Thirupaarkadal Pond. The Temple
is very small but the idols in the temples are very special. Dwara Ganapathy
can be seen at the entrance.
Presiding Deity is called as Kasi Viswanathar. Linga is
very small. Visalakshi is housed in separate Sannidhi facing south direction. Stucco
image of Sattainathar can be seen near facing east direction. Shrines for
Vinayaga and Runavimochanar with Mother Manonmani can be found in the prakaram.
Runavimochanar will relieve the devotees from pains, debts and cases. He is
considered more powerful than Thirucherai Runavimochanar.
Also, shrines of Ekambareswarar – Kamakshi,
Sundareswarar – Meenakshi, Murugan, Mahalakshmi can also found in the prakaram.
Idols of Garuda, Anjaneya, Nagas, Mariyamman, Nalvar and Sekkizhar can be seen
in the prakaram. Dhakshinamoorthy, Lingothbavar, Brahma and Durga are the
Koshta Idols found around the sanctum.
Navagraha Shrine is located in the north-eastern part of
prakaram. Mannargudi is located at about 14 Kms from Needamangalam, 29 Kms from
Thiruvarur, 52 Kms from Nagapattinam, 38 Kms from Kumbakonam, 40 Kms from Thanjavur
and 93 Kms from Trichy. Nearest Railway Station is located at Mannargudi and
Nearest Airport is located at Trichy.
