Manicka Ayyanar Temple, Kamalapuram, Kudavasal, Thiruvarur
Manicka Ayyanar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Sastha located at Kamalapuram Village in Kudavasal Taluk in Thiruvarur District of Tamilnadu. Presiding Deity is called as Manicka Ayyanar. Sthala Vriksham is Banyan Tree. Theertham is Cauvery River located at the entrance of the village. People cultivated Kamalam flowers - lotus in the tank nearby and sent them to Kamalambal temple for pujas. Hence the name Kamalapuram. The temple is 300 years old.  After construction of a temple, the last consecration was performed in the year 2009.
Legends
While one Manickam was watching his harvest during a night, robbers came there to attack him. He called Aiyanar in a loud voice for rescue. Ayyanar immediately came to his rescue and protected him from the robbers. People of the place praised him as Manickam Katha Aiyanar. The name of the deity came to be known as Manicka Ayyanar.
The Temple
The temple is built on the western side of a tank among green fields. Presiding deity Ayyanar is housed in a tin shed with a Kalasa. Munnadias are on the eastern entrance holding a horse. Lord Kala Bhairava is depicted nearby holding his Dog vahanam. Madurai Veeran and Nondi Veeran are in separate shrines holding swords.
Temple Opening Time
The Temple remains open from 8.00 a.m. to 12.00 a.m. – from 3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.
Festivals
Vaikasi Visakam in May-June and many pujas are conducted in the temple from time to time by those to whom Ayyanar is the Kuladevatha.
Prayers
People pray here for cure from illness, for recovery of lost things, relief from black looks and for good agricultural yields. Realizing their wishes, devotees offer food grains, live goats and cocks to Ayyanar. Some use to tonsure also.

Kamalapuram is 10 km far from Thiruvarur on the Mannargudi road. The temple is about 1 km far from the bus stop on Kan Kodutha Vanitham Road. Nearest Railway Station is located at Thiruvarur and Nearest Airport is located at Trichy.
