Kothanda Ramaswamy Temple, Vaduvur, Thiruvarur
Kothanda Ramaswamy Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located at Vaduvur Village in Thiruvarur District of Tamilnadu. The Temple is also known as Dakshina Ayodhya. The Temple is situated at the banks of a Bird Sanctuary and close to a tributary of Cauvery. The main deity, Lord Rama is known for his enchanting and enigmatic beauty. It is believed Saraboji Raja installed the idol of Lord Rama and built this temple.










Needamangalam, Vaduvur, Thillai Vilagam and Maduranthagan are some of the world famous Ramar temples. This is one of the Abhimana Kshetram of Lord Vishnu and is also called as Vakulaaranya Kshetram. Vaduvur Ramar temple is among the Purana Sthalams and is close to Mannargudi. The presiding deity here is Kothandaramar with Sita, Lakshmanan and Anjaneyar. It is interesting to note the similarities in the Moolavar and Utsavar idols here.

The temple is open from 6.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.
Festivals
Devotees perform Tirumanjanam to Lord on the Punarvasu Star day – His birth star. He comes in procession in the evening with Mother Sita. The temple celebrates 10 day Brahmmotsavam in Panguni – March April – following Sri Rama Navami. Wedding festival is celebrated on the seventh day and the car festival on the ninth day. Lord appears as Andal on the 5th day.  Lord grants darshan to devotees on Garuda on Akshaya Tritiya day.

Prayers
It is the belief that devotees praying to Lord Rama, they will have children obeying their fathers. Besides traditional Abhishek and offering of Vastras, devotees also arrange procession of the Lord, offer Tulsi garlands, offer lamps to the temple, arrange feeding (annadhanam) and contribute to the renovation and maintenance of the temple suiting to their affordability.

Connectivity
The Temple is located at about 33 Kms from Koradacherry, 44 Kms from Thiruvarur, 24 Kms from Thanjavur, 17 Kms from Needamangalam, 40 Kms from Kumbakonam, 15 Kms from Mannargudi and 77 Kms from Trichy. The Temple is located South East of Thanjavur off the Pattukottai Highway. Buses ply every 10 – 15 minutes between Thanjavur and Mannargudi. It takes about 45 minutes from Thanjavur. Can also be reached via bus from Thiruvarur and Kumbakonam via Mannargudi. Buses on Thanjavur - Mannargudi route stop at Vaduvur and the temple is at a walkable distance from the bus stop. Nearest Railway Station is located at Thanjavur and Nearest Airport is located at Trichy.
