Palvannanathar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Tirukkazhippalai in Chidambaram Town in Cuddalore District of Tamilnadu. Presiding Deity is called as Palvannanathar and Mother is called as Vedha Nayagi. This temple was originally located 13 Kms southeast of Chidambaram on the north bank of river Kollidam. When the temple was destroyed by floods in the river Kollidam, the presiding deity Paalvanna Nathar was removed from there and kept in a new temple built at Sivapuri (Tirunelvayil) nearby.






Sthala Vriksham is Vilwa and Theertham is River Kollidam (Coloroon). It is one of the shrines of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams - Shiva Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Thevaram poems by Tamil Saivite Nayanmars TirugnanasambandarAppar and Sundarar. This is the 58th Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 4th Sthalam on the north side of River Cauvery in Chozha Nadu.

The Temple is open from 6.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. and from 5.00 p.m. to 7.15 p.m.
Festivals
Thai Poosam in January-February, Purattasi Navarathri in September-October, Mondays of Karthikai Tamil month covering November-December, Aipasi Annabishekam in October-November and Margazhi Thiruvadirai in December-January are the festivals celebrated in the temple.

Prayers
It is believed that consuming the milk used for the abishek of Lord Shiva – Linga – will bless the devotee with a child. It also cures diseases caused due to heat in the body. Devotees perform abishek to Lord Vijaya Vinayaka on Sankatahara Chaturthi day seeking success in their endeavors.
