Thirukkadigai, Sholinghur – Theerthams
Major Theertham
of this temple are Pandava Theertham, Amrita Theertham and Thakkan Kulam or
Brahma Theertham. The temple tanks is named as Brahma Theertham as Brahma is believed to have performed penance at this
place to propitiate himself from the sins of one of his five heads getting cut
by Shiva. In modern times, devotees perform rites at the temple
tank seeking blessing from their forefathers.
Thakkan
Kulam is a boon to the devotees who throng from several places and they have a
sacred dip in the Tank before climbing the Hills. The Srinivasa Pushkarini is located
in front of the Bhaktavatsala Temple while the Brahmma Theertham is located on
the road leading to the hill temple. There are also the Narasimha Theertham and
the Bhairavi Theertham and the Thiruvadi Theertham.
There
are several other Theerthams in the hill and its environs. Taking a dip in the
Brahma Theertham, Agni Theertham, Soma Gundam, Padma Sarovaram, Valmiki
Theertham and Vajra Theertham and going around Narasimhar's hill is known as
``Mahapradakshinam''.
Taking a
dip in the Brahma Theertham, Bhairava Theertham, Halavartham, Varaha Theertham,
Pundarika Theertham, Gaarudam, Vama Theertham, Papavinasanam, Amrithakundam,
Rathna Theertham, Vasishta Theertham and Lakshmi Theertham is known as ``Anthra
Pradakshinam''. No one can say where these holy waters, except three or four,
are to be found.
