Thirukkadigai, Sholinghur – Yoga Anjaneya Swami Temple (Small Hill Temple)

Thirukkadigai, Sholinghur – Yoga Anjaneya Swami Temple (Small Hill Temple)
Yoga Anjaneya Swami Temple, or Small Hill Temple is on another hill, 350 feet high with 406 steps leading up to it. Though the steps are lesser, it is steeper. Here also, monkeys are aplenty. Steps are fully covered with roof and there is no worry about sun and rain. This is the only Divya Desam with such special prominence for Lord Anjaneya. Chathur Bhuja (4 hands) Yoga Anjaneya (Hanuman) faces west. He holds the discus in the upper right hand, conch in the upper left hand and Japamalai (prayer beads) and Japashangu in the other hands.

Here Hanuman is known as Yoga Anjaneya as he is seated in a yogic posture. It is said that Anjaneya is always looking towards the sanctum-sanctorum of the Narasimhar temple and is offering prayers. Lord Rama Pattabhishekam is engraved on his Krida (crown) of Hanuman. Lord Hanuman here protects devotees and grants them various boons. Nowhere else in India is Lord Hanuman seen with Shangu and Chakra given by Lord Narasimha himself to protect the devotees. The beautifully crafted standing Utsavar has 4 hands. Anjaneyar is considered to be the Avathaar of Shiva, but here he is resembling the Avathaar of Sri Vishnu.

This temple appears to be bigger than Yoga Narasimha Swamy. There are separate sannidhi for Sri Ranganathar and Sri Ramar adjacent to Anjaneya Swamy. A reclining Lord Aranganatha (Ranganatha, form of Lord Vishnu) is known as Bala (child) Aranganatha facing south has been consecrated in this shrine and said to have been worshipped by Lord Rama. Lord Rama Shrine is facing West. Lord Rama appears with Lakshman and Sita. It is told that he has been consecrated there to be worshipped by Lord Anjaneya.

In this shrine, the idols of Rama, Lakshman, Sita, Chakkarathalwar, Vishnu, Sridevi and Boodevi and Navaneetha Krishnan are in worship. This temple has two towers and the Hanuman Theertham and the Rama Theertham. The Pandava Theertham is situated at the bottom of this hill. It is said all evil activities are cured if we take bath in the Theertham of this Sthalam and by worshipping Yoga Anjaneyar. There is a pond (Chakra Theertham) in the top, well maintained.
