Thiruparkadal
Twin Vishnu Temples are a set of two Vishnu Temples located very next to each
other in Thiruparkadal Village in Vellore District of Tamilnadu. Thiruparkadal has
a rarest among the rare, temple in the country, where Thirumal stands on God Siva to show the world, the
amalgamation of Vaishnavism with Saivism and to enlighten both of them are one and the
same.
Thiruparkadal
(Ocean of Milk) is also called as Kshir Sagar, which is considered to be one of
the 108 Divya Desam temples, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Among 108 Divya Desam
temple, 106 temples are situated on Earth. And two Divya Desams are present
beyond the Earth. The two special Divya Desams present beyond the Earth are:

Thiruparkadal
is the 107th Divya Desam which is said to be located at
Extraterrestrial Universe, where Lord Vishnu is said to be in Sayana posture,
the eternal yogic sleep on the serpent Adhiseshan, along with Goddess Lakshmi. The
presiding deity of Thiruparkadal is Lord Vishnu as Lord Thiruparkadal Nathan
also called as Sri Ksheerapti Nathan and Parkadal Vannan. He is believed to be
facing to the south direction, which is the direction of Yamatharmaraja (the
lord of death) to watch his activities.
Thiruparkadal
(Ocean of Milk) has the sacred Amrita, which is the nectar of immortal life.
And it is believed that Jeevathma (soul) can only able to reach the sacred
place Thiruparkadal. It is said the Lord in Thiruparkadal will be watching all
the activities of all the Athmas (living things), and depending upon their good
deeds and sins. Here Lord Vishnu is considered to be declaring the final Mukthi
(emancipation).
And this
holy place is said to be surrounded by the holy Astakshara Manthra, “Om Namo Narayana”,
the mantra reaches the ultimate goal Vaikunta planet where one attains eternal
blissful life. The Theertham of Thiruparkadal is believed to be the sacred
Amrita Theertham. The God wanted all the devotees to visit all the 108 Divya
Desams and hence created ‘Sayana position’ at Thiruparkadal. These details were

Thiruparkadal
village, known as Karapuram in ancient times, is a scenic fertile area
surrounded by greenish fields and is the site of two Sivan temples and two
Vishnu temples. This is the location where Lord
Vishnu lay on Adhiseshan to prevent
the gushing Saraswathi river from disrupting and destroying the yagna performed
by Lord Brahma to seek the grace of Thirumal at Kanchipuram.
Temples
The
Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal Temple has both Shiva and Vishnu and the Ranganatha
Swamy Temple has Vishnu and Brahma - therefore it is a Trimurthy Kshetram. Both

Connectivity
Thiruparkadal
is on the Chennai – Vellore (Bangalore) highway, beyond Thiruputkuzhi, about 22
kms from Thiruputkuzhi, on the left side of Highways while going from Chennai,
about 2 kms from the highways at the Kaveripakkam junction. Two beautiful
Vaishnavite temples are present side by side. It is said that this place can be
considered to be the 107th Divyadesam.
The
Temples are located at about 1 Km from Thiruparkadal, 4 Kms from Kaveripakkam,
3 Kms from Kaveripakkam Bus Stand, 5 Kms from Sirukarumbur, 20 Kms from Dhamal,
22 Kms from Thiruputkuzhi, 33 Kms from Kanchipuram, 41 Kms from Arakkonam, 18
Kms from Ranipet, 14 Kms from Walajapet, 44 Kms from Vellore and 100 Kms from
Chennai.
Buses
plying from Chennai to Vellore stop at Kaveripakkam Junction. From Kaveripakkam
Junction, the temple is just 2 Kms away. Buses plying from Chennai to Ambur
stop at Kaveripakkam. Nearest Railway Station is Ranipet Railway Station (19
Kms) and Nearest Airport is Chennai International Airport (90 Kms).
