Subramanya Swamy Temple, Kailasagiri, Gadambur – The
Temple
This
temple is majestically situated at 600 feet above ground level, adding to the
beauty and charisma of the entire region. The main ponds are Theppa Kulam
(Thamarai Kulam) and Green (Pachai) Kulam, Surya Kulam (Pond) and Yanai (Elephant)
Kulam. Kulam means Pond. Right next to the temple, there is a small cave and
some Muslim ruler was used this cave to fight with British.
Just
near the Nager Peedam there is one dilapidated small temple structure in which
Saptha Kannigal are the presiding deities. The eastern part of the hill belongs
to the State forest department but “Kailasagiri Hill” belongs to Subramanya
Swamy Temple and it is being run by hereditary trustees. The place has ruins of
a Mughal fort and water streams surround the temple area.
