The Temple
The Temple has a five tiered Rajagopuram with single prakaram. Presiding Deity is called as Bala Subramanya Swamy. A unique feature of this temple is the Maragatha Mayil (Peacock) the carrier of Lord Muruga made of Green stone. The Prime Deity Bala Subrahmanya is about 4.5 feet height and appears in standing posture. Opposite him is the sanctum of Saint Arunagirinathar. It is of significance to note that all the god-images except that of Muruga are sculpted in emerald stone.

On the right side of Lord Muruga is the sanctum of Annamalaiyar and Unnamulai Ambal. Between them stand Lord Muruga and his spouse Valli hand in hand and grace us – this is a special feature and a rare sight. There is a Shrine for Adhi Moolavar in the praharam. He has decorated the main sanctum, before the new Vigraham has replaced it. Shrines of Maragatha Vinayakar, Naagar, Venkatrayar, Muniswarar, Bairavar, Suryanar, Navagrahas, can be found in this Temple.

The Utsava moorthy of Lord Muruga is Valli Manalar and it weighs 120 Kgs. Lord Murugan holding the hand of Valli in preparation for wedlock is only the one of its kind. Utsava moorthy is placed in the Kalyana Mandapam. The Sthala Vriksham here is Magizha tree.
