Kamakshi Amman Temple, Mangadu, Chennai
Kamakshi Amman Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to
Goddess Parvathy located at Mangadu in Chennai City in Tamilnadu. The temple
sports the Chola style of Architecture and construction. The Raja Gopuram was a
recent addition to the Temple. This is one of the most visited temples near
Chennai especially on Sundays and Fridays. It is said that people visiting KamakshiAmman Temple should also visit Velleeswarar Temple and Vaikunda Perumal Temple
in Mangadu, as all these three temples are interconnected with the history of
Mother Kamakshi Amman.

History
The Temple is believed to build by Pallava Kings and
renovated by Chola Kings. First Maha Kumbabhishekam was performed on 8th
July of 1987 with a newly built seven storied Rajagopuram and again on 3rd June
of 2001. Both were performed in the presence of His Holiness Sri Jayendra
Saraswathi Swamigal and Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal.

3.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. On Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays, the temple is open
from 05.00 a.m in the morning till 10.00 p.m. in night continuously.
