Naanmaraiyurar Temple, Perumkadambanur, Nagapattinam
Naanmaraiyurar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Perumkadambanur Village near Sikkal in Nagapattinam Taluk in Nagapattinam District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Naanmaraiyurar / Chathur Vedapureeswarar and Mother is called as Muzhumathichoodi / Veda Nayagi. The Temple is considered as one of the Pancha Kadamba Sthalams and one of the Mada Temples built by Kochengata Chola.

History
The Temple is believed to be built in 7th Century CE. It is believed that this temple is considered as one of the Mada Temples built by Kochengata Chola, an early Chola Emperor.

The Temple
This temple follows Mada Koil architecture (temples built at an elevation). The Temple is facing towards east. Presiding Deity is called as Naanmaraiyurar / Chathur Vedapureeswarar and is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. Vinayaga, Dakshinamoorthy, Lingodbhava, Brahma and Durga are the Koshta idols located around the sanctum walls.


Chandikeswarar Shrine can be found in his usual location. His shrine is situated in the ground level. Mother is called as Muzhumathichoodi / Veda Nayagi. She is housed in a separate south facing shrine. There are shrines for Vinayaga and Murugan in the Temple premises.

The Temple is located at about 5 Kms from Sikkal, 6 Kms from Sikkal Railway Station, 6 Kms from Aazhiyur, 8 Kms from Kilvelur, 8 Kms from Nagapattinam New Bus Stand, 9 Kms from Nagapattinam, 10 Kms from Nagapattinam Railway Junction and 141 Kms from Trichy Airport. The Temple is situated on Thiruvarur – Nagore Bypass Road. Nearest Railway Stations are located at Sikkal and Nagapattinam. Nearest Airport is located at Trichy.
