Narasinga Perumal Temple, Mannadimangalam, Sholavandan, Madurai
Narasinga Perumal Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located at Mannadimangalam Village near Sholavandan Town in Madurai District of Tamilnadu. The Temple is believed to be 500 years old. The Village is called as Thozhi Ammal Puram during historical times.

Legends
Demon Hiranya performed severe penance and secured a boon that he could not be killed by men, Devas, demons, birds and animals with many conditions about time etc. He immediately promulgated an order that he alone should be worshipped as supreme God and brought everyone and everything under his control. But his own son disagreed with his father, violated the rule and worshipped only Lord Vishnu. Hiranya used all forces to correct his son but in vain. The final confrontation took place at the dusk time, neither day nor night. He demanded his son to show him his Vishnu. Lord appeared from a pillar with a human body and Lion face, kept him on his lap, used the nails as weapon, tore Hiranya and killed him. He is the presiding deity of this temple.
The Temple
Presiding Deity is called as Narasinga Perumal. Lord Narasimha graces the devotees in a standing posture with Mothers Sridevi and Bhoodevi. Though named Lord Narasimha, He is not Narasimha in face but a smiling Vishnu. A single sculpture depicting the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu, the penance sculpture of an elephant and lion together speak volumes of temple reputations of Tamilnadu. Indeed, the devotee or an art lover needs number eyes to enjoy these sculptures.
As in Srivilliputhur, Andal in the temple blesses the devotees with Tulsi Mada in the front and water tub (Theertha Thotti in Tamil) behind. Lords Vinayaka and Santhana Gopalakrishnan, Saint Nammazhwar, Nagar and Mother Durga shrines are in the prakara. Anjaneya and Garuda Bhagwan are the Dwarapalakas in the temple. There is no flag post (Kodimaram) or Vimana in the temple. Jack, plantain and Mango are the three sacred trees of the temple. Theertham is Vaigai River.
Temple Opening Time
The temple is open from 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. and from 5.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays only. For other days, devotees has to contact the priest.
Festivals
Vaikunda Ekadasi and Margazhi Dhanur Month puja in December-January and Karthikai Deepam in November-December are the festivals celebrated in the temple.
Prayers
People pray here for removal of obstacles in wedding matters, child boon and for relief from Mars planet adverse aspects (Sevvai Dosha) in Tamil. Devotees perform Tirumanjanam to Lord, offer silk vastras and ornaments.

The Temple is located at about 4 Kms from Kuruvithurai, 5 Kms from Sholavandan Railway Feeder Road Bus Stop, 5.5 Kms from Sholavandan Railway Station, 9 Kms from Thiruvedagam, 14 Kms from Vadipatti, 28 Kms from Madurai, 28 Kms from Madurai Railway Junction, 29 Kms from Madurai Periyar Bus Stand, 32 Kms from Madurai Mattuthavani Integrated Bus Terminus and 40 Kms from Madurai Airport. Nellai Express from Chennai stops at Sholavandan station (4.45 AM Arrival). There are buses frequently available to Sholavandan from Periyar Bus stand in Madurai.
