Kariyamanika Perumal Temple, Ayanavaram, Chennai
Kariyamanika Perumal Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated
to Lord Vishnu located at Ayanavaram, well-known locality of Chennai City in
Tamil Nadu. The Temple is located at Parasurama
Eswaran Koil Main Street, Ayanavaram, Chennai. Presiding Deity is called as Kariyamanika
Perumal and Mother is called as Kanagavalli. The more famous Parasurama
Lingeswarar Temple is located next to Kariyamanika Perumal Temple.
The Temple
This Temple is one of the oldest temples in Chennai. The
temple is very small. It has five-tiered Raja Gopuram (temple tower). Presiding
Deity is called as Kariyamanika Perumal. The sanctum houses Kariyamanika
Perumal (Vishnu) along with his two consorts, Sri Devi (Lakshmi) and Bhoo Devi
on either side. Gaja Stambha and an idol of Garuda can be found opposite to the
sanctum. Mother is called as Kanagavalli. She is housed in a separate shrine in
the temple corridor. Kanagavalli idol is very beautiful and the goddess is in
sitting posture. The temple also houses the shrines of Andal and Hanuman.

meters from Annanagar East Substation Bus Stop, 2.5 Kms from Anna Nagar East
Metro Station, 4 Kms from Perambur Railway Station, 7 Kms from Egmore Railway
Station, 8 Kms from Chennai Central Railway Station, 8 Kms from Koyambedu
Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus and 16 Kms from Chennai Airport. The Temple can
be easily reached easily either by public transport or by auto rickshaw/taxi,
as the temple is located in a prime location of Chennai.
