Anjaneya Temple, Nanganallur – The Temple
The main shrine houses Anjaneya inside a Temple Tower of about 90 feet tall. The Kalasam kept on the top of the tower is made up of copper and covered by gold plates. The temple is facing west with a 3-tier small Rajagopuram. Since the moolavar is 32 feet tall, Vimanam is higher than the Rajagopuram. There is an auxiliary entrance on the southern side used during temple festivals. The main Temple building has path-ways all around the sanctum sanctorum and also a large covered space (Mandapam) for devotees to assemble in front of the Lord for offering worship.




Presiding Deity is called as Viswaroopa Anjaneyar or Aadhi Vyadhihara Bhaktha Anjaneyar. The principal idol of Hanuman is 32 feet tall and sculpted from a single piece of granite, which the second tallest Hanuman after Panchavadi near Puducherry. Anjaneya is facing west. Three Continuous ghee lamps are burning on front of the sanctum for which the devotees are offering ghee. Anjaneyar was installed in 1989 and Kumbabishekam has been done in 1995.




There is a shrine for Lord Rama on the North-West corner of the Temple. The shrine houses Lord Rama, Lakshmana and Seetha with Anjaneya. The Shrine is facing east. Lord is seen carrying his Bow, hence he is called as Kothanda Rama. The unique feature of this Nanganallur Anjaneyar Temple is that the temple contains a separate Sannidhi for Lord Krishna, which cannot be found in other Anjaneya temples. The Shrine of Lord Krishna with Rukmini and Satya Bhama can be found on the South-West in the Temple premises. The shrine is facing east. A Thulam is kept here for Thulabaram.



Lord Vinayaka can be found on small platform in the north-eastern side of the Temple. He is facing east. A Naga can be found on another platform to the left side of Lord Vinayaga. There is a shrine for Saint Raghavendra facing Lord Krishna in the Temple premises. The Temple also houses sheds for cows and calves, maintained by the temple administrators, which are used to provide milk for the deities for daily rituals. This temple has a Madapalli (Temple Kitchen) with full-fledged facilities for offering Annadhanam (offering of food). The temple is now under the custody of HR & CE.
