Kailasanathar Temple, Irandam Kattalai, Thanjavur
Kailasanathar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Irandam Kattalai Village in Kumbakonam Taluk in Thanjavur District in Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Kailasanathar and Mother is called as Kamakshi.


History
Tulaja Raja of Thanjavur Maratha Kingdom donated seven Kattalai Villages to Thiruvidaimarudur Mahalingeswarar Temple for its maintenance. This Village is second of the seven villages.

The Temple
This is a small east facing Temple, but the entrance is from south. Presiding Deity is called as Kailasanathar and is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. Mother is called as Kamakshi. She is housed in a separate south facing shrine. Apart from sanctum and Mother shrine, only Chandikeswarar Shrine can be seen in the Temple. The Temple is in ruins.

The Temple is located at about 3 Kms from Ammangudi, 5 Kms from Ayyavadi, 7 Kms from Thiruneelakkudi, 8 Kms from Thirunageswaram, 8 Kms from Nachiyar Koil, 9 Kms from Thirunageswaram Railway Station, 9 Kms from Thiruvidaimaruthur, 9 Kms from Thiruvidaimaruthur Railway Station, 12 Kms from Kumbakonam Bus Stand, 12 Kms from Kumbakonam Railway Station, 13 Kms from Kumbakonam, 54 Kms from Thanjavur and 115 Kms from Trichy Airport. The Temple is situated on Ayyavadi to Ammangudi Route. Take Bus No. 15 and 15 A from Kumbakonam Bus Stand to reach this place.
