Ramanathaswamy Temple, Puthagaram, Thanjavur
Ramanathaswamy Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Puthagaram Village in Kumbakonam in Thanjavur District in Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Ramanathaswamy and Mother is called as Abhirami.

History
It is believed that a Buddha Vihara was present in ancient times and the village came to be called as Buddha Viharam. Later got corrupted to Puthagaram. No traces of Buddha Temple can be found in the village at present.
The Temple
This Temple is a small east facing Temple. Presiding Deity is called as Ramanathaswamy and is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. There are no Koshta Idols located around the sanctum walls. Mother is called as Abhirami. She is housed in a separate south facing shrine in the Artha Mandapam. There is big pond situated opposite to the Temple.

The Temple is located at about 5 Kms from Ammangudi, 5 Kms from Ayyavadi, 7 Kms from Thirunageswaram, 8 Kms from Nachiyar Koil, 9 Kms from Thirunageswaram Railway Station, 11 Kms from Kumbakonam Railway Station, 12 Kms from Kumbakonam, 12 Kms from Kumbakonam Bus Stand, 55 Kms from Thanjavur and 115 Kms from Trichy Airport. The Temple is situated on Ayyavadi to Ammangudi Route.
