Ainootreeswarar Temple, Mathur – The Temple
The temple is facing east with 5 tiered Rajagopuram. The Rajagopuram is around 70 feet tall. Dwajastambam and Nandi can be found immediately after the entrance facing the sanctum. A unique feature of this Temple is Nandi, sitting on Simha Peedam. Presiding Deity is called as Ainootreeswarar and is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam.


Mother is called as Periya Nayagi. She is housed in a separate south facing shrine. Varahi can be found on Simha Peedam near to Mother shrine. Sthala Vriksham is Magizha Tree. There is a Muneeswara Peedam present below this Tree. He is called as Anandha Muneeswaran. He is seen holding mace and trishula. There are shrines for Bhairavar, Vallabha Ganapathi, Shanmuganathar, Bhairavar (with 2 dogs as his Vahana), Chandikeswarar.


Dakshinamoorthy on the Koshta Wall is wearing Crown in his head. It is a unique feature nowhere to be seen. There is a Temple tank, called Kamalalaya Theertham, with approach steps, situated outside the temple premises. There are Thiruvodu Tree and Trees representing each Nakshatra can be found in the Temple premises.


This temple also contains sculptures of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Vivekananda and Ramana Maharishi. The unique feature of this temple is the stone lions with freely rotating balls in their mouths. The Temple has seven Pirivus (sub-classifications) of Nagarathar Community like Uraiyur, Arumbakkur, Manalur, Mannur, Kannur, Karuppur and Kulathur. They inter-marry within these Pirivus in the Kovil and other Kovils as well.
