Thirupurantheeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Palayamkottai, a prominent neighbourhood in Tirunelveli City, in Palayamkottai Taluk in Thirunelveli District of Tamilnadu. Presiding Deity is called as Thirupurantheeswarar and Mother is called as Gomathi Amman. The Temple is considered as Thevara Vaippu Sthalam as Devaram hymns had a mention about this Temple. This Temple is one of the four Thirupuranthakar Thevara Vaippu Sthalams. The Temple was called as Thirupuranthakam in ancient times.

Festivals
Chithira Brahmotsavam, Margazhi Thirupalliyezhuchi, Margazhi Thiruvadhirai, Thiru Karthigai, Aippasi Thirukalyanam, Kanda Sashti, Aadi Pooram, Thai Poosam and Monthly Pradoshams are celebrated here with much fanfare.

The Temple is considered as Thevara Vaippu Sthalam as Devaram hymns sung by Appar had a mention about this Temple. The Temple is mentioned in 6th Thirumurai in 7th Patikam in 5th Song.

Connectivity
The Temple is located at about 2 Kms from Palayamkottai Bus Stand, 3 Kms from Palayamkottai Railway Station, 3.5 Kms from Thirunelveli New Bus Stand, 4 Kms from Thirunelveli Old Bus Stand, 4 Kms from Thirunelveli Junction Railway Station and 157 Kms from Madurai Airport. Palayamkottai Bus Stand is a major stopover for all buses going to Kanyakumari and Nagercoil. There are also numerous connections between the local Palayamkottai bus-stops and Thirunelveli town. Thirunelveli New Bus Stand connects Palayamkottai and Tirunelveli in an extensive network of neighbouring towns, cities and also the major metropolitan cities of Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Palayamkottai also has a railway station on the Tirunelveli Junction to Tuticorin railway station and Thiruchendur Junction lines.
