Kailasanathar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Sakkottai, a village in the outskirts of Kumbakonam, in Thanjavur District in Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Kailasanathar / Thirumeinathar. This temple is situated on the southern bank of the river Arasalaru. The Temple was believed to be built in 12th Century CE but completely destroyed in later days and lost forever. The Linga was unearthed in 2014. The Linga was placed in hut and a temple was built for Linga with the help of locals.



The Temple is located at about 1 Km from Sakkottai Bus Stop, 3 Kms from Kumbakonam Railway Station, 4 Kms from Kumbakonam Bus Stand, 4 Kms from Kumbakonam, 6 Kms from Thirunageswaram, 7 Kms from Darasuram, 10 Kms from Patteeswaram, 11 Kms from Swamimalai, 11 Kms from Thiruvidaimaruthur, 42 Kms from Thanjavur and 100 Kms from Trichy Airport. The Temple is situated on Kumbakonam to Needamangalam Route.
