Sundareswarar Temple, Seppakkam, Cuddalore

Sundareswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Seppakkam Village near Veppur in Virudhachalam Taluk in Cuddalore District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Sundareswarar and Mother is called as Meenakshi. The Temple is situated on the southern banks of Gomukhi River. Seppakkam was called as Sivan Pakkam in ancient times.



The Temple

This temple is facing towards east with an entrance arch. The entrance arch has stucco images of Lord Shiva & Mother Parvathy flanked by Vinayaga and Murugan. The Temple covers an area of about 2 acres. The Temple is enclosed by compound walls on all sides. The Sanctum Sanctorum consists of Artha Mandapam and Sanctum.



Presiding Deity is called as Sundareswarar and is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. Vinayaga, Dakshinamoorthy, Lingodbhava, Brahma and Durga are the Koshta Idols located around the sanctum walls. Mother is called as Meenakshi. She is housed in a separate south facing shrine.


There are shrines for Vinayaga, Vishnu, Lord Murugan and Navagrahas in the Temple premises. Navagraha Shrine houses Bhairava and Suryan Idols also. Sthala Vriksham is Vanni Tree. It is situated immediately after the entrance on the left side.

The Temple is located at about 5 Kms from Veppur, 5 Kms from Kuttakudi Railway Station, 9 Kms from Mukhasaparur Railway Station, 22 Kms from Thitagudi, 23 Kms from Ulundurpet, 27 Kms from Virudhachalam, 30 Kms from Ulundurpet Railway Station, 83 Kms from Cuddalore and 112 Kms from Trichy Airport. The Temple is situated on Veppur to Ulundurpet Route (NH 38).
