Thiruvaleeswaramudaiya Nayanar Temple, Orangur, Cuddalore

Thiruvaleeswaramudaiya Nayanar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Orangur Village in Thittagudi Taluk in Cuddalore District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Thiruvaleeswaramudaiya Nayanar. The Temple is believed to be built by Chola Kings.

The Temple

This Temple is facing towards east with Mottai Rajagopuram (Unfinished Rajagopuram). Nandi and Balipeedam can be found immediately after the entrance facing the sanctum. The Sanctum Sanctorum consists of Sanctum, Artha Mandapam and Maha Mandapam. Presiding Deity is called as Thiruvaleeswaramudaiyar as per the inscription available in this temple.

There is no Lingam in the Sanctum but there is a Lingam on the left side of the sanctum. Mother is housed in a separate east facing shrine. There are shrines for Murugan, Bhairavar and Vinayagar in the temple premises. There is a broken inscription slab in the temple premises. The inscription mentions the village as Jananatha Valanattu Naraiyur Kootrathu Urangur and Lord is mentioned as Thiruvaleeswaramudaiya Nayanar.

The Temple is located at about 9 Kms from Mangalur, 13 Kms from Tholudur, 14 Kms from Tholudur Bus Stand, 24 Kms from Veppur, 26 Kms from Chinna Salem Railway Station, 28 Kms from Thittagudi and 101 Kms from Trichy Airport. The Temple is situated on Tholudur to Sirupakkam route via Pulikarambalur.
