Sukreswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Kanchipuram City in Kanchipuram District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Sukreswarar / Sukleswarar and Mother is called as Kamakshi. The Temple is also called as Sukleswarar Temple. The temple is considered as Shukra Parihara Sthalam. The temple is situated in Krishna Rice Mill Complex.

Legends

It is believed that Shukra worshipped Lord Shiva of this temple.

History

The Lingam was found when people were excavating the land for building the rice mill.                                               

The Temple

This temple is facing towards east. The temple is built in the form of Shiva Lingam. Nandi and Balipeedam can be found the sanctum. Presiding Deity is called as Sukreswarar / Sukleswarar and is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. Lingam is having sixteen stripes (Shodasa Linga). As in other temples in Kanchipuram, there is no separate shrine of Parvathi as it is believed that Kamakshi of Kanchipuram Kamakshi Temple is the common Parvathi shrine for all Shiva temples. Vinayaga and Murugan can be found at the entrance of the temple.
