Pallikonda Ranganatha Swamy Temple, Idigarai, Coimbatore

Pallikonda Ranganatha Swamy Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Idigarai Town in Coimbatore North Taluk in Coimbatore District in Tamil Nadu. The Temple is situated on island between two banks of river similar to Srirangam Ranganatha Swamy Temple. The temple is maintained and administered by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

History

The Temple was built by the Pandya Kings during 14th century CE. Peddappa Naicker, a viceroy of Vijayanagara king was sent here for the supervision and maintenance of the temple. The 36 stone pillar Mahamandapa and the walls were constructed by him as per an inscription in the temple. Idigarai was called as Irukarai in ancient times.

Temple Opening Time

The Temple remains open from 7.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. and from 6.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. On Saturdays and in the whole month of Margazhi (Dec-Jan), the temple is open for devotees from 4.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m.

Festivals

10 days Chithirai Brahmotsavam during the Tamil Month of Chithirai (Apr-May) is the most famous festival celebrated here. The Wedding festival of Lord and Mother are grandly celebrated on the fifth day of Brahmotsavam and Panguni Uthiram. The 11th day of Full Moon fortnight (Ekadasi) in Karthikai month (Nov-Dec) is also a day of festival called Kaisika Ekadasi.

Special pujas on all Saturdays; Thirupalli Ezhuchi at 5.00 a.m. during the whole Margazhi month (Dec-Jan), Special pujas on the star days of Azhwars, Aani Thirumanjanam, Aadi Pooram, Krishna Jayanthi, Navaratri, Deepavali, Karthigai Deepam, Pancharathra Deepam, Hanuman Jayanthi, Thai Pongal, and Tamil New Year day are the other festivals celebrated here.

Connectivity

The Temple is located at about 100 metres from Idigarai Bus Stop, 14 Kms from Gandhipuram Central Bus Stand, 15 Kms from Coimbatore, 17 Kms from Coimbatore Junction Railway Station and 17 Kms from Coimbatore Airport. The Temple is situated at about 5 Kms from Narasimha Nayakkan Palayam Junction off the Coimbatore to Mettupalayam route.
