Swayambu Narasimhar Temple, Veerapandi, Coimbatore

Swayambu Narasimhar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Veerapandi Town in Coimbatore North Taluk in Coimbatore District of Tamil Nadu, India. This Temple is considered as one of the famous Narasimhar Temples in Kongu region.



Legends

It is said that Lord appeared in the dream of a devotee and informed about his divine presence in a well of his place. Later, a temple was built to enshrine the Swayambhu Moorthy.

The Temple

This Temple is facing towards east with three tiered rajagopuram. There is a four pillared mandapa in front of the rajagopuram. Deepa sthamba can be seen in front of the rajagopuram. The temple consists of sanctum, ardha mandapam and maha mandapam. A mandapa connects the rajagopuram with the maha mandapa.



Balipeedam, Dhwaja Sthambam and Garuda can be found in this mandapa, facing towards the sanctum. The sanctum enshrines the presiding deity, Swaymbhu Narasimhar. Lord is a Swayambhu Moorthy. Only head is visible rest are not seen. There are shrines for Prahalada, Lakshmi, Dhanvatri, Azhwars, Andal, Chakrathalvar and Yoga Narasimhar in the temple premises. Sthala Vriksham is Vanni tree.



Temple Opening Time

The Temple remains open from 06.00 AM to 12.00 Noon and 04.30 PM to 08.00 PM.

Festivals

Narasimha Jayanthi, Pradosha, Vaikunta Ekadasi, Thirumanjanam, Aadi Perukku, Swathi Nakshatram and Sudarshana Narasimha Homam are the festivals celebrated here.

The Temple is located at about 4 Kms from Periyanaickenpalayam Railway Station, 10 Kms from Karamadai, 17 Kms from Mettupalayam, 20 Kms from Coimbatore, 22 Kms from Gandhipuram Central Bus Stand, 23 Kms from Coimbatore Junction Railway Station and 24 Kms from Coimbatore Airport. The Temple is situated adjacent to the Veerapandi Narasimhar Temple Bus Stop. The Temple is situated on Coimbatore to Mettupalayam road.
