Patteeswarar Temple, Perur – Festivals
Natyanjali:
The temple is believed to be one of the places where Shiva is believed to have
performed Ananda Thandavam. Hence, the temple celebrates Natyanjali (festival
of dance) during September every year. The most prominent and talented dance
schools of the city and even some from other cities take turns to awe the
audience with their performance.
Naatru Nadavu Thiruvizha:
There
is an interesting festival called Naatru Nadavu Thiruvizha celebrated in this temple. It is said that this festival was part of ancient Indra Vizha, a grand
festival celebrated by ancient Tamils. It is still in practice only in this temple on the banks of Kanchi Manadhi (Noyyal River). It starts in Aani month
Kiruthigai Nakshatra, Natru Nadavu (planting the seedlings) in Poorada
Nakshatra and concludes in thirumanjanam in Uthiram Nakshatra.
Arudhra Dharisanam:
Arudhra
Dharisanam is conducted during Margazhi month with large gathering of devotees
offer their prayers and to receive the Lord’s blessings. On the 10th
day of the Thiruvadhirai Utsavam in Margazhi, Lord Nataraja on a Silver
Chapparam and Ambal on a Golden Chapparam go around on a street procession in
the morning at 7.00 am. after an abhishekam at 3.00 am. It is celebrated with
much fanfare next to Chidambaram. Hence, the temple is praised as Melai Chidambaram (Chidambaram of West).
Panguni Uthiram:
10 days
Brahmotsavam is celebrated in the month of Panguni with Kalyana Utsavam on the
sixth day and the Chariot Festival on the seventh day.

celebrated here.
